Water Applied Decal Instructions

Read the directions on your paint before installing the decals.  Paints vary in drying time from an hour or less to a week or more.

  1. Trim carefully around decal.

  2. Place the decal in hot water until it loosens from the backing paper.  Wet the surface where the decal is to be placed.

  3. When the decal loosens, slide it off the backing paper onto the prepared surface. 

  4. Fold the backing paper with the slippery side out.  Using this backing paper, start at the center of the decal, and while holding the decal in place, carefully press outward any water, air bubbles, and wrinkles.

  5. Smooth out and let dry.

  6. Clear coating is recommended to preserve the decal.  Make sure the clear you select is compatible with the paint you have put on your motor.  Apply several light coats of clear over the decal before putting a heavier "wet" coat.
