General Information:
- This model was painted "Mercury Green" and "Dull Aluminum."
- Model & serial numbers were on the instruction plate riveted to the front cover of the engine.
- Serial # 405293 thru 408292 appear to be 1950 models.
- Ser. # 492819 thru 493750 appear to be 1951-52 models.
- 495755 thru 521402 appear to be 1952 models.
- Serial # 405293 thru 405989 had a die cast clamp bracket as in Picture #
1.
- Ser. # 405990 and up had forged clamp brackets as in picture # 2.
- 1952 Mercury catalogs advertised the 1952 models as factory equipped with
a recoil starter. It is unclear at what serial number this happened.
